As the Education Program Director, your primary role will be to enhance student achievement by effectively implementing instructional practices and strategies endorsed by ChanceLight Education. You will serve as the instructional leader, overseeing site staff to ensure quality instruction and compliance with ChanceLight policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and vision to enhance student achievement and site operations by supervising staff, implementing performance management plans, identifying professional learning needs, and engaging in ongoing professional development.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection process to build an effective site team.
- Guide and support teachers in developing classroom schedules and facilitating student transition plans to ensure tailored services based on individual goals.
- Assist teachers in implementing social skills and conflict resolution strategies within the classroom.
- Supervise staff through work assignments, development plans, performance monitoring, and coaching.
- Recognize accomplishments and address issues to promote productive site operations.
- Maintain a safe learning environment in accordance with operational guidelines for addressing issues and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and state requirements, ensuring staff are informed of success criteria.
- Manage site operations, school schedule, custodial services, maintenance, food services, transportation, administration, budgeting, resource allocation, and community relations.
- Represent ChanceLight Education at community, district, and local levels.
- Communicate and collaborate with families and community members.
- Assess professional development needs and align with instructional goals.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and team-building abilities.
- Instruct and evaluate teachers and students in utilizing learning materials to ensure instructional fidelity and student performance.
- Monitor staff and student performance, maintaining thorough records of student progress in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Compile and analyze assessment data to measure student growth and guide instructional interventions.
- Model and oversee the implementation of instructional strategies to facilitate active learning.
- Manage student behavior utilizing positive behavior interventions and supports.
- Participate in assurance and accreditation processes to meet performance criteria.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and developments in education.
- Solicit, provide, and respond to feedback constructively.
- Collaborate with the site team and national support resources for organizational benefit.
This position involves oversight and guidance from the regional vice president, ensuring the delivery of quality leadership, management, and administrative support for the ChanceLight Education site.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
- Meet state teaching license and certification requirements.
- Active certification in educational leadership or school administration preferred.
- Active certification in special education highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with developmental disabilities or emotional disturbances.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an educational leadership or administrative role.
- Strong management skills and knowledge of school operations and staffing requirements.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and instruction management.
- Skilled in working with individuals with various learning and behavioral challenges.
- Able to effectively motivate and engage students toward achieving realistic goals.
- Proficient in building relationships with students, parents, teachers, and community partners.
- Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant technology including instructional tech and Microsoft Office suite.
- A servant leader focused on team needs and problem-solving.
