What You Will Do

  • Perform shim and sharpen activities to dies as directed by journeyman Tool & Die maker.
  • Using manual metal working machines to cut and square material.
  • Stamping die PM and repair.
  • Set up Bridgeport type machines and operate.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings including tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of measuring tools: micrometers, calipers, tape measure, etc.
  • Set up and operate cut off and band saw machines, surface grinders, drill press, heat treat oven, lathe. Directly support Journeyman Tool & Die Markers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What You Bring

  • Education/ Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a tool & die shop, using tool shop equipment.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate quality issues to supervisor, lead, and tool and die personnel. Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues to maintenance personnel. Ability to record quality and production information on records. Ability to read print and using measurement tools, effectively evaluate part for conformity. Ability to read instructions for operation, gauging, or other instructions needed for job. Ability to visually compare products for defects. Ability to occasionally lift up to 2600 pounds with assistance from forklift or winches.
