About The Role
The Clinical Data Management, Senior Manager leads a team of Data Managers and Database Developers responsible for designing early phase clinical study data acquisition tools, reviewing study data, and delivering high quality Data Management outputs. They oversee the planning and coordination of Data Management support across assigned studies and programs for their team. A central focus of this role is driving innovation and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager proactively identifies opportunities to modernize Data Management processes, evaluates emerging technologies, and implements enhancements that increase efficiency, data quality, scalability, and inspection readiness. They champion initiatives such as automation, workflow optimization, data visualization, and advanced data acquisition solutions to ensure the department remains forward looking and aligned with evolving industry practices. Additionally, the Senior Manager is responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining staff, and partnering cross functionally to meet departmental quality, operational, and financial goals. They promote clear communication, strong collaboration, and a culture where new ideas and process improvements are encouraged and sustained.
What You'll Do Here
- Follow department and company SOPs, forms, templates, and policies; ensure team compliance; and contribute to SOP revisions, CAPA development, and implementation of preventive controls.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients and project teams for Data Management, managing escalations and proactively aligning sponsor and internal expectations.
- Provide input on study timelines for assigned staff, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure timelines and quality meet contractual and organizational expectations, including KPI tracking and oversight of change orders.
- Manage and mentor direct reports by setting goals, holding regular 1:1s, balancing workload, and coaching for performance and career development.
- Identify project-level risks and issues, support timely escalation, and drive resolution.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Biostatistics/Programming, Clinical Operations, Safety, and Regulatory to maintain a unified "one team" approach.
- Promote a learning culture by conducting post-mortems/retrospectives and sharing best practices across studies and teams.
- Maintain and reinforce departmental compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including GCP, ICH E6(R2/R3), CDISC (SDTM/ADaM where relevant), 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, and regional privacy requirements.
- Improve operational efficiency by streamlining Data Management workflows, reducing cycle times, and eliminating non-value-add activities to support a lean, agile delivery model.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to modernize Data Management tools and processes, and implementing improvements that enhance automation, data quality, scalability, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Implement and maintain Data Management standards, including: CRF libraries, controlled terminology, edit check libraries, and SDTM standards-to support efficient, high-quality study buildings.
- Lead or participate in departmental and cross-functional initiatives focused on process optimization, technology adoption, and quality improvements.
- Collaboratively develop, deliver, and maintain training programs for Data Management roles.
- Oversee staffing for direct reports and support departmental leadership in evaluating broader resourcing needs.
- Other duties assigned by management.
What You'll Need to Succeed - Bachelor's Degree in health-related sciences or relevant field required. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum 7+ years of industry- or contract research organization (CRO)-related Data Management experience.
- Minimum 3+ years' related experience in people management. (This is not a project lead role)
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point are required. EDC experience preferred.

- The requirement to have study protocols, designs and clinical research documents written and documented in English as required by industry regulatory agencies
- The employee communicates frequently with Altasciences employees across Canada and the United States. As such, English is the main language used to correspond between offices.
What We Offer The pay range estimated for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 yearly. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
